The Molecular Cardiology Laboratories

The Molecular Cardiology Laboratories are a referral International Center for patients with Long QT Syndrome, Short QT Syndrome, Brugada Syndrome, Catecholaminergic Ventricular Tachycardia, Dilated Cardiomyopathy, Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy and Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy as well as for Competitive Athletes and young patients with “idiopathic” ventricular tachyarrhythmias.
The Laboratories – staffed with 15 basic science investigators involved in molecular biology and cellular electrophysiology as well as in the development of transgenic animal models and their phenotypical characterization – are tightly linked to the clinics and performs genetic screening for patients with inherited arrhythmias.

Pain Therapy

The activity of ICSMaugeri Pain Unit is directed to patients with chronic pain of different causes, mainly not related to cancer. Our main goal is the identification of pain origin through a clinical evaluation and, eventually, diagnostic blocks. We look at the involved tissue or organ, at the mechanisms causing pain such as inflammation, degenerative processes or lesions, in order to target the analgesic therapy. The treatment include pharmacological therapy, Xray or ultrasound guided injections and procedures of neuromodulation. The Unit include out-patients facilities for clinical evaluation, injections and follow up and inpatient rooms for surgical procedures.

Sleep Therapy

Sleep accompanies us along our life. It fulfils essential functions to keep the brain and the body able to face the challenges of life. The lack of sleep, sleep disruption or sleep diseases lead rapidly to detrimental changes in physical and psychological wellbeing. Moreover, the appearance of changes in sleep pattern may anticipate by years the occurrence of critical symptoms of severe diseases, especially neurodegenerative o respiratory diseases.
The modern Sleep Medicine Center typically show a multi-disciplinary organization in order to achieve higher accuracy in diagnosis, disease severity stratification and personalized treatment.
